Clinical treatment for gambling,
sexual behavior,
and technology
addictions.

Gambling disorder is a recognized behavioral addiction with measurable neurobiological and clinical features, not a problem of willpower or discipline. I hold the ICGC-I credential from the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board and have treated gambling disorder in residential and outpatient settings throughout my career.

Gambling Disorder

Compulsive Gaming and Technology Use

Compulsive gaming and problematic technology use are emerging clinical concerns with a growing research base. These patterns often present alongside gambling or sexual behavior concerns, particularly in high-functioning adult men whose professional roles can mask the severity of the problem. My practice addresses these conditions as primary concerns or as components of a broader behavioral addiction picture.

Compulsive Sexual Behavior

Compulsive sexual behavior is a pattern of loss of control over sexual thoughts, urges, and behaviors that continues despite meaningful negative consequences. Problematic pornography use, compulsive use of sexual services, and infidelity-related patterns can all present clinically. I hold the CSAT-S credential from the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals and train other clinicians in this specialty.

Michael Lazar, LCSW, CSAT-S, ICGC-I

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with specialty credentialing in both compulsive sexual behavior and gambling disorder. The dual CSAT-S and ICGC-I combination is rare nationally, reflecting years of focused training across both specialty areas.

Before launching this practice, I spent over a decade in residential leadership at some of the most established behavioral health programs in the country, including Gentle Path at The Meadows, The Ranch, and All Points North. That experience informs how I work now: with adult men whose behavioral addictions have become serious enough to warrant specialty care, but who need the flexibility and discretion that telehealth provides.

I currently serve on the board of the American Foundation for Addiction Research (AFAR), present at national conferences, and maintain active membership with the National Council on Problem Gambling. I'm licensed in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.

For Referral Sources

I receive referrals from concierge medical practices, treatment placement specialists, executive coaches, and other professionals working with high-functioning adult men. I'm happy to discuss a potential case directly before any referral is initiated, and my practice is built around the discretion, flexibility, and specialty-level clinical care this population requires.

Let’s talk before you decide.

If you're considering specialty care for a behavioral addiction, or you're a professional weighing a referral, the first step is a short conversation. Consultations are 15 minutes, at no cost, and carry no obligation. We'll discuss what's going on, whether my practice is the right fit, and what a potential path forward might look like.
